Is Febreze safe on plush dog toys?

I made the mistake of putting a slobbered up plush toy in a plastic tote with the other toys and such when I moved and now everything stinks. I tried washing them and hanging them outside but it didn't work. Obviously I would let it dry completely before letting my dog play with it, but it would still be in their mouth. What do you think?

  1. No it might make her sick.. Time for new toys. Good thing Christmas is coming soon.. Oh no did I just say that?
  2. I dont think I'd put anything like that on my dog's toys. If it still stinks after washing, then throw it out and buy your dog a new toy.
  3. I think this must not be a serious question. febrezing your dogs plush toys? A pet is a living thing, not a teddy bear that doesn't slobber or poop. Ease up on the sanitizing.
  4. I wouldn't febreeze it. You have a few choices: - try washing it again and hope it works - get new toys, im sure your pup wont object! - get over it, if your pup doesnt care and they dont smell TOO bad then its no big (keep in mind even IF you get new toys and/or clean the heck out of these ones, once you give them back, its SLOBBER TIME! Thats what dogs do!)
  5. I would not Febreeze the dog toy. Try adding baking soda to the wash as it may take the smell out and then hang it out or lay it out to dry in the sun. The sun is a good helper to get rid of smells. Worth a try. I have done it before with some of my beagle toys and its worked on some and others I just had to throw away and replace.
